Dorset Park has a new express restaurant in town – and it might just have a familiar name. Milano’s Grill Express opened its doors to the Kennedy Road community at the start of 2019, bringing with it a diverse selection of delicious menu offerings. But this isn’t Milano’s first restaurant to open shop in the GTA, Milano Foodworks has been long standing for years on Woodbine Ave in Markham, Ontario, making Milano a name you won’t forget.

The cuisine at Milano’s Grill Express is a mix of both Greek and Italian, offering up both hot and cold options to suits its customer’s appetites. Whether you’re in the mood for a light lunch or want to go all in and enjoy one of their filling meals, Milano Express is there to satisfy.

While Milano’s Grill is known for their take-out service, the restaurant also holds several seated areas where customers can choose to dine-in if they wish. The atmosphere is causal, with lots of natural lighting, brightly coloured walls, and friendly staff to help you place your order.

From Greek fries, hot Italian sandwiches, Philly cheesesteak, and souvlaki plates, Milano’s truly is your one-stop shop for delicious food at an affordable price. Their menu features stand-alone items such as pita wraps, salads and sandwiches, but there’s also the option to upgrade your order to a Value Meal or Value Combo. Value Meals are available for the souvlaki and falafel dishes, and the Philly (steak, chicken or veggies) sandwiches starting at $10.99 and include: Greek salad, rice, potatoes or fries, and pita & tzatziki. It’s the perfect option for those who have a large appetite!

The Value Combos are available for the Philly (steak or chicken) sandwiches, hot sandwiches, pitas and burgers, and include fries & a drink starting at $9.99. The Value Combos at Milano’s Grill are a popular favourite for lunch among those who live or work nearby.

For our visit we decided to try the Veal Cutlet sandwich, Greek Fries (feta, herbs, and lemon juice on golden French fries), Chicken Souvlaki Meal, and the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. For two people, the portions of each dish were large enough to share making it well worth the price.

The Philly Cheesesteak sandwich comes with sautéed onions, green peppers, thinly shaved beef and melted cheese on a soft, crusty roll. It’s an iconic sandwich home to Philadelphia and for good reason. Thankfully, Milano Express brings this sandwich close to home for all of us to enjoy. The Milano Philly Sandwiches are also available to be made with chicken or the vegetarian-alternative – with veggies!

The Veal Cutlet sandwich is layered with tomato sauce, melted cheese, and breaded seasoned veal cutlets on a soft Kaiser bun. For a small fee, you can upgrade your sandwich and load it with toppings such as mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and caramelized onions. And let us tell you, this is no small sandwich! We highly recommended picking up one of these if you aim to please a hungry stomach.

The Milano Chicken Souvlaki was juicy and tender, marinated with classic Greek herbs and spices. The Chicken Souvlaki Meal comes with rice and potatoes (or fries), and a fresh Greek salad to tie the meal all together.

The best part is that Milano’s Grill offers catering for small or large sized parties, with buffet style options. Their catering menu is a bit more expansive than their in-store menu with options such as meat lasagna, jerk chicken, eggplant, veal, or chicken parmiggiano, and shawarma.

Consider Milano’s Grill the next time you’re on the go and need a bite (if you’re in a rush you can even place your order ahead of time!).  With daily specials, you’re bound to get a delicious meal that won’t break the bank.
