It’s been almost two years since Jollibee opened its stomping grounds in Scarborough bringing both nostalgic memories and delicious fried chicken to the table. Originally opened in the Philippines in 1975, this popular Filipino fast food chain has won the hearts of customers worldwide with over 1,000 locations. Now it’s our turn in Canada to give Jollibee the love and recognition it deserves!
The highly anticipated menu includes a selection of fried chicken buckets, combos and family-style dinners. Some of the most notable and unique dishes on the menu to North America include fried chicken with a side of the legendary Jolly Spaghetti. This Filipino-style spaghetti includes noodles topped with a sweet (Banana Ketchup) tomato sauce, mixed with pieces of chopped ham and hot dog, and topped with shredded cheddar cheese. Alternative options for sides include white rice, buttered corn, mashed potatoes, and a fast-food classic – French fries.

The variety on the menu is nothing like you’d expect at typical fried chicken joints. From the Palabok Fiesta – a vermicelli noodle dish, topped with chicharron, ground pork, shrimps and hard-boiled eggs to the Amazing Aloha Yum Burger. This delicious burger comes with two beef patties, a ring of pineapple, bacon and cheese, providing the perfect balance between sweet and savoury. Another hearty and option is the Burger Steak (two beef patties, topped with mushrooms and gravy over steamed rice).

The most popular item, of course, is the Jolly Crispy Chicken. Available in either regular or spicy, this crispy piece of chicken is tender and juicy on the inside and comes with a gravy to dip. To help wash down your meal, you can opt out of a standard fountain soda for Jollibee’s signature pineapple juice.

For a sweet treat, order the Peach Mango pies. These pies have a nice light, crispy flaky crust and fruity filling. The combination of peach and mango is the perfect post-dinner or afternoon pick-me-up dessert.
Jollibee restaurants bring an uplifting and positive spirit to their company culture. Before entering the restaurant, don’t miss out on a photo-op with the Jollibee mascot (an anthropomorphic bee) suited up in chef’s attire, displaying a “Bee Happy” motto. Inside, you’ll also notice positive quotes painted on the wall, along with cheerful yellow accents.
