Jerry’s Fish & Chips is a locally-owned restaurant that has been serving up fresh dishes on Kennedy Road for the past 5 years. This diner-style restaurant is full-on adorned with nautical décor, creating an inviting and cozy atmosphere for all its customers. It was a nice surprise to see the owner, Jerry, himself greet us upon arrival and be the one to serve up our dishes after ordering. The service was prompt, and we had a great time chatting with Jerry and getting to know a bit more about the family business (after having relocated to Kennedy Road a few years back).

We opted for the Halibut Fish & Chips served with a Greek salad, and the Club House Sandwich with onion rings as our mains. It’s safe to say that the portions were huge but we enjoyed every bite! The Club House Sandwich featured tender chicken breast, crispy bacon, lettuce, and tomato served alongside onion rings and a vinegar-based coleslaw.

While the fish was indeed fried, it was not super greasy or over-battered as can be found in some fish and chip places. Everything was freshly prepared including the generous amount of hand-cut potatoes that accompanied the halibut and homemade tartar sauce. The seafood menu at Jerry’s aside from your choice of halibut includes: shrimp, scallops, calamari, and cod. With fish and chips having originated sometime in the 1800s, we can see why this simple dish is such a fan-favourite among many, and a good tartar sauce is key!

The best part is that there is more than just seafood sold at Jerry’s Fish & Chips. Their menu contains an array of fish alternatives such as New York Steak, Char-Grilled Chicken Breast, Chopped Sirloin Steak, Chicken Souvlaki, Homemade Burgers, Club House Sandwiches and more. There’s even a children’s menu so the little ones don’t get left behind! And did we mention all-day breakfast? Including a selection of omelettes, steak & eggs, thick French toast, and pancakes.
